POSITION SUMMARY: Metro is looking for an experienced manager to lead the business functions of our diverse portfolio of safe, friendly and welcoming outdoor destinations. The Parks and Nature Business Services Manager will oversee the historic cemeteries program, the department's administrative team, all revenue concessions contracts, and business systems that support the department's operations. As the Business Services manager, you would play a key role in supporting the teams that work directly on advancing our mission: protecting clean water, restoring fish and wildlife habitat, and creating opportunities for people to enjoy nature close to home.
This position serves as a middle manager, directly supervising the administrative supervisor, two cemetery coordinators and one management analyst. We're looking for somebody who's strategic about improving how we work and has strong business sense and contract management skills. This position will manage concession agreements in Metro's park system, the operating contract for the Glendoveer Golf Course and other commercial leases.
Thanks to voter investments, Metro's park system is growing. More than half a dozen new sites are opening within a few years, expanding our footprint across the region. We're looking for somebody who can help us stretch our resources to effectively manage our growing system. We also expect our business services manager to share Metro's commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.
In this position, you will lead a team that supports the rest of the Parks and Nature Department. You will also provide direct supervision for Metro's Historic Cemeteries program and will provide leadership in setting the strategic direction of the program. You will manage annual budgets, lead hiring and other personnel decisions and manage revenue, concessions and commercial lease agreements for the department.
The right person for this job will have significant public sector experience managing similar types of services as well as good judgment, a positive attitude and self-awareness. Just as important as what you do is how you do it. We're looking for someone who is enthusiastic and positive, results-oriented and strategic in guiding the operations of Metro's unique park system. We also want someone transparent and authentic who inspires and motivates, empowers and promotes others to develop, learn and grow.
Three years leading or supervising staff and two years project management experience. Bachelor's degree in a related field, or any combination of education and experience which provides the applicant with the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the job.
