The City of Helena seeks an enthusiastic and energetic individual to work with the Recreation and Aquatics Program Manager in the management and operation of the Last Chance Splash Waterpark and Pool. Last Chance Splash has an Olympic outdoor pool with diving well, two slides, a lazy river, a zero depth wading area, a spraypad and a concessions stand. The successful candidate will be responsible for the supervision of lifeguards, swim instructors, fitness instructors and admissions staff and will coordinate programs and facility operations.
This is an outstanding opportunity for an individual who is interested in a career in aquatics management and seeks an opportunity to grow and develop skills and experience. If the successful candidate is a student needing internship experience for an enrolled degree program, then the City will work with the student and the school to fulfill internship requirements. The anticipated dates of appointment are May/June through August with flexibility around school schedules.
Two years of experience working in a variety of roles in the aquatics field. Experience in leadership positions is preferred.
Two years of experience from an accredited college, university, or junior college or equivalent.
Current StarGuard certification or ability to obtain certification upon appointment.
Current Starfish Swimming Instructor certification or ability to obtain certification upon appointment.
Experience as a StarGuard Instructor and/or Starfish Swimming Instructor-Trainer is preferred.
Ability to lead and direct the work of employees.
Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite and online scheduling software.
Possession of a valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.

You can hike right in town on Mount Helena, a 620 acre park that looks down on the city from its 5,468 foot peak. A number of well-marked trails provide options for hiking to the peak, circling the mountain, or walking out into Helena National Forest. Take your choice of more than 700 miles of trails in the National Forest. There are five local access points to the Continental Divide Scenic Trail which passes within 13 miles of Helena.
Helena hosts year-round festival fun, theatre, and symphony events. You don’t have to look far to enjoy winter recreation in the Helena area. The hills around town are perfect for sledding and acres of frozen lakes offer an ideal surface for ice boating or skating. If ice fishing is your sport, angle for perch, rainbow trout, or kokanee salmon. Enjoy skiing or snowboarding on our great mountain located just 23 miles from Helena at historic Marysville. The Great Divide Snowsports Area offers by far the largest acreage and most varied terrain of any community snowsports area in Montana.
