We are seeking an energetic Recreation Therapy Director to organize, develop and direct recreational therapy operations that contribute to our reputation, developed over the past 100 years, for excellence in geriatric care.
As the largest long-term care facility in the state of Maryland, we offer many opportunities to design and launch innovative and person-centered care recreational programs. Your hands-on role as the Recreation Therapy Director will focus mainly on the facilitation and direction of activities in our 558-bed facility, the Hebrew Home of Greater Washington.
As a Recreation Therapy Director with the Hebrew Home of Greater Washington, you will hire, train, develop and supervise a large staff of Recreational Therapists and assistants. You will conduct performance evaluations and act as a resource for staff as they pursue professional development for opportunities both within and outside Hebrew Home.
Additional responsibilities of the Recreation Therapy Director include:
Overseeing yearly departmental budgets
Updating and maintaining a monthly recreational calendar
Planning and leading outings and trips
Reviewing and signing off on MDS forms
Providing documentation for individual care plans
Collaborating with nurses, doctors and other medical department colleagues to develop appropriate resident programming

Bachelor’s degree in therapy or a related field
