The City of Brentwood is currently recruiting for the position of Parks Superintendent. The purpose of this position is to perform administrative and supervisory duties in the daily operation of parks and recreation facilities, ensuring safe, creating an exceptional parks, open spaces, trails and pathways experience for residents and visitors alike.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Deliver a safe and excellent customer service experience to our residents, members and patrons.
Oversee, develop and evaluate policies and procedures, suggesting changes in current practices when necessary.
Plan, prioritize, and implement parks maintenance, repair and development activities; coordinates renovation, construction and development projects.
Manage assigned parks and facilities and ensures the safety and cleanliness of parks equipment, inspects park grounds and facilities and submits recommendations on the upkeep, upgrade, construction and/or renovation of parks.
Oversee the design of landscaping and other park enhancements.
Manage the City’s urban forest including the maintenance of all park trees, street trees and trees on other City properties.
Direct, supervise, evaluate and schedule assigned park maintenance personnel and supervisory staff; oversees employee safety practices and develop training opportunities.
Assist the Director of Parks & Recreation in the preparation and monitoring of the annual budget for park operations
Maintain records on employee time, equipment and material usage; prepare financial reports and maintain records of material, work hours, equipment and operating costs; prepare short and long range expenditure projections.
Design and implementation of bid proposals and specifications.
Create and reviews a variety of reports including accident or damage reports, equipment records, material usage reports, personnel time reports, Fuel Man reports and procurement card statements.
Serve as project supervisor for parks projects and monitors facilities improvements and consults with contractors to ensure safety, cost effectiveness, aesthetics and compliance with City policies.
Coordinate services and assists in the delivery of recreation programs by providing responsive maintenance of grounds and facilities.
Assist in the planning and coordination of special events and the scheduling of staff.
Research and coordinate grant proposals.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education/Experience Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Parks & Recreation Administration or closely related field from an accredited institution or equivalent experience and education.
Minimum five year experience, in park operations or closely related field.
ISA Certified Arborist certification required.
Possession of a valid Class A Driver’s License within six months of employment.
Certification in American Red Cross CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider and First Aid required within three months of employment.
Certified Parks and Recreation Professional (CPRP), preferred
Additional Salary Information: Hiring range will be $59,778.15 - $63,418.63, dependent on qualifications
