Disseminates positive and informative responses to public inquiries regarding programs, facilities, policies, procedures and staff complaints.
Oversees and coordinates the day to day operation including but not limited to: recruitment, training, scheduling, certification, and performance of employees.
Facilitates program information development and transmission, meeting deadlines and brochure development for programs and special events.
Develops, implements, and oversees a variety of aquatics programs for the citizens of this parish.
Participates in and teaches water certification training and swimming lessons for all ages.
Assist the maintenance department with cleanliness, climate control, and chemistry and related maintenance,
in compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, policies, and guidelines for the operation of public swimming pools.
Represents the organization at various community and business meetings, promotes existing and new programs and /or policies.
Develops and maintains records of operational facilities usage; monitors and maintains inventories of pool equipment and supplies.
Working knowledge of operating a concessions stand, ordering and cooking.
Secondary Job Duties:
Skills in program planning and development.
Budgeting, cost estimating and fiscal management principles and procedures.
Education Required: Graduation from an accredited four (4) year College or University. Preferred: Master's Degree from accredited four year College or University.
Area of Study (major) Required: Recreation, Physical Education, or a related field; experience in aquatics events, programming and/or facility management. Preferred: Recreation, Physical Education, or a related field.
Certification(s) Required: Certified Lifeguard, Certified Lifeguard Training Instructor; Water Safety Instructor Certification; First Aid and CPR certification; Certified Pool Operator certification to be obtained within one year. Preferred: (CPRP) Certification through the National Recreation Park Association to be completed within a specific time frame.
License(s) Required: Valid LA driver's license.
Years Relevant Work Experience: Minimum three (3) years working in aquatic programming, training and facility management, concessions operations or related experience. Preferred: 10 or more years related experience.

Considerable knowledge of aquatics and recreation philosophy, planning and administration.
Considerable knowledge of the equipment, facilities, operations and techniques used in a parish wide aquatics and recreation programs.
Ability to supervise and train lifeguards at several facilities.
Ability to develop and implement various aquatic programs.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, other agencies, and the public.
Basic mathematical skills to maintain revenue and expenses concerning aquatics programs.
Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
Assist outdoor recreation with water and related programming and outdoor activities
