The Regional Fitness Center (RFC), located in Morris, MN, population 5000, and home to the University of Minnesota, Morris (student enrollment of 1800), is seeking a Manager for a year-round community/university fitness center. The RFC is a joint powers institution founded by the partnership of the City of Morris, Stevens County, Morris Area School District and the University of Minnesota, Morris. The RFC has over 2550 active members, comprised of youth, university students, adults, families and senior citizens. The average daily usage is over 240 individuals.
The RFC Manager is responsible for overseeing a high quality regional fitness and recreation facility that meets the needs of community members and university students. Primary responsibilities include implementing a comprehensive marketing and membership strategy; staff hiring, training and supervision; scheduling facility usage; ensuring the fiscal health of the RFC; and overseeing long range planning and expansion for the facility and its programs. The Manager is expected to build strong relationships with campus and community leaders in order to develop and enhance programs that meet the needs of a diverse membership and community. The Manager is a core member of the University wellness coalition and works in collaboration with other University partners to promote healthy activities and lifestyles for University of Minnesota, Morris Students.
The RFC Manager ultimately reports to the joint powers board of the RFC. Executive oversight and support for the RFC Manager is provided by the Morris Area School District Community Education Director and the University of Minnesota, Morris Director of Intercollegiate Athletics.
Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in recreation management, sports management, facility management, fitness or related field; significant supervisory experience, passion for fitness and wellness, preferably in a community center/fitness facility setting; and experience with aquatics/facility programming; and a demonstrated ability to create a welcoming, inclusive environment for people of diverse backgrounds, experiences and cultures.
Desirable Training & Experience: Master’s degree in a related field; experience managing a recreation and fitness program; and experience with community and university fitness/recreation programs.
