Churchill County is a rural county located in Northern Nevada, about 60 miles east of Reno. Boasting over 300 days of sunshine, Churchill County provides plenty of opportunities for year-round recreational activities.
The County has over 180 year-round employees, with a Parks and Recreation Department comprised of 9 full-time, year-round employees. The number of seasonal employees varies with... the time of year, with up to an additional 30 or so employees during the summer season.
In addition to salary, Churchill County pays 100% of the PERS retirement benefit, which equals almost 20% above and beyond the normal salary. The PERS retirement replaces Social Security, so the employee takes home an additional 6% of take-home pay. Additionally, Nevada has no state income tax, adding to our employees' take-home pay.
Churchill County also pays 100% of the insurance premiums for our employees. Employees may also choose to cover their dependents on the County's insurance, althought the County does not contribute to dependent coverage. Additionally, employees receive 8 hours of vacation leave and 10 hours of sick leave per month.
