We have an immediate opening for a Children’s Program Manager located in Ashburn, VA. The Children’s Program division provides after school programs, summer camp and recreation and leisure activities to youth of all abilities. As the Children’s Program Manager you will oversee and manage the operations of several large and diverse programs such as After School programs located at 46 elementary schools and Summer Camp. Your managerial, planning and staff management skills will be utilized to oversee staff recruitment and retention, coordinate training and staff development, performance management, coaching and feedback and manage a large and complex program budget. You will provide strategic input and long-term planning to ensure continued program success. Strong organizational skills are needed to ensure state licensing guidelines are met, oversight of licensing files, development and review of program policies and procedures and to identify new program opportunities. With a customer service focus you will utilize automated systems to create efficiencies and improve administration of programs, collaborate with divisions within the department and with other county departments to ensure high quality program standards continue to be met. The successful candidate will be a strong communicator, collaborator and matrix manager. Work schedule has some flexibility and will fall between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 6:30 p.m., for a total of 37.5 hours per week.

Position requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in child care, education, recreation or related field and at least 4 years directly related work experience. Master’s degree preferred. Virginia State licensing requires 6 months experience working with or supervising children during recreational or educational activities. Previous supervisory experience required. Valid driver's license required. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. Must have certification in First Aid, CPR for adult, infant and child, and a negative TB test result prior to beginning work. Criminal background, Child Protective Services (CPS), Credit and DMV checks required.
