The Recreation Supervisor coordinates and administers comprehensive year round youth and adult sports programs, recreation programs and special events. The Recreation Supervisor is responsible for overseeing operations of City recreation facilities such as athletic fields, concessions, community buildings and the aquatic center. The Recreation Supervisor is responsible for certain customer service and marketing operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Coordinates and administers sports programs, various recreation programs, special events, recreation facilities and trips/tours.
Creates, develops, implements, and supervises recreation facilities, programs and special events.
Recruits, trains, schedules, supervises, and evaluates the performance of volunteers, recreation and facility staff.
Oversees the department’s equipment and facility rental program.
Participates in the development of departments marketing efforts for certain recreation facilities, programs, leagues, and events.
Markets, schedules, and coordinates recreation facilities, programs and events.
Assists with the development of promotional materials for programs, events and facilities.
Participates in the development and distribution of quarterly brochures, activity guides, and other promotional materials.
Produces program, event and facility information for the department’s website.
Oversees certain recreation facility operations including scheduling, coordinating and supervising part-time employees.
Initiates disciplinary actions.
Applies for and administers grants related to recreational programming and facilities.
Seeks sponsorship opportunities for programs, events and facilities.
Maintains a detailed equipment inventory for facilities, programs and events.
Participates in a variety of informational and public relations activities to make the public aware of program and event offerings and available facilities.
Attends and participates in a variety of public and association meetings.
Processes purchase orders and revenue deposits.
Prepares detailed budget requests and maintains the budget operating within budgetary limits.
Assists with other department activities when necessary.
Completes written documents and prepares regular and special reports.
Tracks and maintains revenues and expenses for related programs, events and facilities.
Communicates with the general public, supervisors, peers and subordinates to resolve problems.
Maintains performance data, tracks revenues and expenses.
Performs other related duties as deemed necessary or as required.
Education, Certification and Experience Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Parks and Recreation or related field plus a minimum of two years experience in Parks and Recreation or related field. Requires the possession of a valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
