Midlothian (population 25,000) is a dynamic, fast growing community of 52 square miles, strategically located 25 miles south of the Dallas Fort Worth metro area. The City of Midlothian is recruiting for its first Parks and Recreation Director, which will be added to the Executive Team. The Director will be responsible for a comprehensive year round community parks and recreation program, including the management of all municipal owned parks and athletic fields/courts.
This position reports directly to the Assistant City Manager; supervises 2 direct reports; and, is responsible for a total staff of 10 FT employees and 5 Seasonal employees.
The minimum requirements for this position include:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Parks and Recreation or closely related field.
Minimum of seven to ten years of progressively responsible work experience in the parks and recreation field, including three years supervising a division or section of a Parks and Recreation Department as a Superintendent or above.
Preferences for this position include: Master’s degree in a related field; Certification as a Parks and Recreational Professional.
