Under the direction of the Recreation Superintendent, performs administrative and supervisory duties in directing all facets of programming and scheduled activities for a specific division of the Parks & Recreation Department, i.e., special events, special populations, aquatic operations, pre-school youth programs. Performs extensive report and record maintenance activities, and continual evaluation of the effectiveness and efficiency of assigned program(s). Directs the work of supervisory personnel, and the program(s) of a large scale in terms of personnel, public participation and budget criteria.
Individuals assigned to this classification must report to work per their assigned schedule, which may include nights, weekends and holidays.

Performs planning, organizing, promoting and directing of assigned programs and activities, i.e., aquatics operations, seasonal festivals and events, special populations and pre-school youth programming.
Supervises and evaluates the performance of personnel under charge. Recruits, interviews, selects, trains and evaluates full-time, part-time and contract personnel under charge.
Performs weekly, monthly and annual report duties, i.e., program evaluations, performance evaluations, state program reporting, programming goals and objectives.
Performs considerable accounting and record maintenance activities concerning purchase requisitions, check requests, payroll and registrations.
Prepares and administers all personnel and facility rental contracts.
Prepares and administers budget(s) for assigned program(s) according to established city goals and objectives. Manages revenues and expenditures for preschool, VPK, and facility.
Coordinates and processes all reporting and paperwork for assigned program(s). Approves all outgoing paperwork, invoices, check requests, credit card purchases and statements, daily deposits, etc. for all programs and events.
Supervises arrangement of facilities and equipment, ensuring proper supply, set-up and condition to maintain security and safety for employees and patrons.
Performs scheduling tasks in areas such as transportation, facility use, equipment maintenance and repair and rescheduling when necessary.
Coordinates, reviews and approves facility maintenance, cleanliness and improvements. Monitors and ensures equipment and building are maintained for safety and upkeep.
Solicits funding through grants, private industry and other potential sources of revenue.
Researches and maintains marketing strategies for the division.
Supervises and performs promotional activities, i.e., public service announcements, catalog development and flyers.
May be required to operate a motor vehicle in performance of assigned tasks.
Performs other related duties as required.
Four (4) years of experience in recreational programming, to include supervisory experience.
Licenses or Certifications
Must possess a valid state driver's license and obtain a valid Florida driver's license within thirty (30) days of hire or promotion.
Additional certification will be required to adhere to Parks & Recreation Department's established state laws concerning childcare programming, i.e., CPR and First Aid, 30 Hour HRS Child Care, 5 Hour HRS Owner/Operator.

National Parks and Recreation Association Professional certification.
