The Department of Intercollegiate Athletics and Recreation at the State University of New York, College at Plattsburgh is seeking qualified candidates for a full-time, 12-month, Director of the Field House, which is a complex that includes an ice arena, indoor track/gymnasium, and outdoor fields . The Director will be responsible for providing the administrative leadership of the field house/ice arena and the surrounding athletic fields to include fiscal management, marketing and ticket operations, supervision of staff, scheduling and ice/arena maintenance. This position reports to the Director of Athletics.
Responsibilities include: Supervision of all administrative aspects of the field house/ice arena to include; scheduling, ticket operations for Men's and Women's Ice Hockey, marketing and promotions, event operations, supervision of staff, budgeting, facility maintenance, working with community/rental groups, working with various constituencies to facilitate campus events, etc... Evening and weekend work will be expected.
Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 3 years of facility management experience that includes: scheduling venues; hiring and supervising workers; budget experience; promotion of events; and experience at a facility that has multiple venues. Demonstrated skills in leadership, communication, organization and relationship building are a must. The willingness and ability to perform evening and weekend work will also be required.
Preferred Qualifications: A degree in sports or facility management. Experience in an ice arena setting with knowledge of the process of making and maintaining ice for collegiate ice hockey. Demonstrated record of managing multiple events happening simultaneously. Experience with a work order system. Demonstrated experience with developing productive relationships with various internal and external constituents including maintenance and operations staff. Five plus years of facility management experience.
